The work included constructing new structures, modifying existing ones, and demolishing outdated facilities. Key tasks involved preserving current systems like the operations building, clarifiers, and BioLac basin, while integrating new systems such as BNR basins, new headworks, clarifiers, and UV treatment processes. Pace used a phased construction approach to minimize disruptions, including rerouting sewage and replacing electrical systems, with careful coordination to maintain service while connecting new and existing pump stations.
The project aims to expand the wastewater treatment plant’s capacity from 2.2 million gallons per day (MGD) to 4.0 MGD, with future expansion potential up to 8.0 MGD. This expansion is crucial to accommodate the city’s growth and support ongoing and planned commercial and industrial developments within the River Ridge Development Authority area.
